Waupaca’s Police and Fire Commission formally accepted the retirement notice of Current Police Chief Tim Goke Tuesday afternoon. Goke told WDUX radio last Thursday that he is retiring from law enforcement later this spring after thirty years of service—13 of those years in Waupaca—with the last 12 as Chief.
Goke’s last day will be June 2nd. The Police Commission yesterday set a tentative timetable for hiring a new chief. They will discuss options for hiring an interim chief next month, and appoint an interim chief in May. The process for hiring a full-time chief will begin in June.
Because of financial pay-outs to Chief Goke for accrued sick and vacation time, it’s likely to be this fall before a new chief is brought on board.
