The State Department of Public Instruction today released estimated state aid numbers for public schools for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. General school aids are the largest form of state support for public schools. The numbers are just estimates because they are based on proposed, not final, state budget appropriations. Three area schools are expected to see increases in state aid dollars for the upcoming year….. Weyauwega-Fremont up 26.6 percent, or a 71,500 dollar increase; Waupaca up 14.6 percent, or a 1.2 million dollar increase; and Amherst up .45 percent, an increase of 28,000 dollars. Area schools that can expect a cut in their state aid include Wild Rose, down 15 percent or 45,000 dollars; Iola-Scandinavia down 4 percent, or a loss of 161,000; and Almond-Bancroft down .7 percent, or a cut of about 21,000 dollars. Final state aid numbers will be certified in mid-October.
