An Antigo woman will serve 8 years in prison for fleeing the scene of an accident, which left a jogger with a traumatic brain injury. 28 year old Josie Romero had entered no contest pleas to hit and run involving great bodily harm, possession of marijuana, and possession of cocaine. Romero was driving on First Avenue in Wausau in July when she hit the 22 year old female jogger, and left the scene. Court documents say she told a relative she was reaching for her phone when she hit the woman. The victim remains at a center for traumatic brain injuries. After the 8 year prison term, Romero will be on extended supervision for 5 years, and must perform 125 hours of community service.
