A deer hunting preserve that has locations in both Shawano and Waupaca Counties is now under quarantine after a buck tested positive for chronic wasting disease. According to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection, the deer was shot at Comet Creek Whitetails near Tigerton. The positive test for CWD was confirmed by a lab in Iowa. The 3 year old buck was among 245 on the deer ranch property. It was born at Wilderness Game Farm in Rosholt in 2014, then transerred to Shawano County in 2015. The Waupaca County location of Comet Creek Whitetails was also put under quarantine because it is owned by the same people as the Shawano County location.
