A Bancroft man will serve 30 years in prison following sentencing in Portage County for killing his wife. 59 year old Larry Sanchez had earlier pleaded no contest to first degree reckless homicide. He shot his wife, Lisa Sanchez, in June of 2015 at the family’s Bancroft home. Sanchez had a blood alcohol concentration of .24 percent at the time of the shooting, according to prosecutors. Sanchez told authorities he was cleaning the 22-caliber handgun when it accidentally fired. The complaint says Lisa Sanchez had left her husband less than a week before her death because of alcohol issues. Larry Sanchez will also serve 10 years extended supervision upon his release in 2046.
