A Bear Creek woman will spend time in the Waupaca County jail following a conviction for conspiracy to commit harboring or aiding a felon in a murder case by giving false information. 36 year old Christine L. Santiago entered a no contest plea to the charge, along with a count of obstructing police. Two other counts, including another harboring charge, were dismissed, but read into the record for sentencing. The charges stemmed from the murder of Matthew Pagel in Clintonville in 2014. Two men have been sent to prison for 30 years for that killing. The criminal complaint says Santiago had a relationship with one of those men. A 3 year prison term was imposed and stayed, with Santiago instead getting a year in the county jail. Six months of that sentence was stayed, to be used at the discretion of the probation agent. Santiago was also placed on probation for 3 years.
