The Waupaca School Board met last night with the use of video-conferencing and phones. The board got an update on the student meal program, brought on by the coronavirus. District Administrator Ron Saari says 281 students are receiving meals daily, with that number still expected to climb. Of those 281, 124 are being picked up at the Waupaca Learning Center, 73 at the high school, and 84 students are having their meals delivered. In an action item last night, the board approved raising the pay for substitute teachers in the district to 110 dollars per day. It had been 100 dollars per day. Board members agreed the pay level needs to be monitored on an on-going basis, to remain competitive with other area districts.
