This is Severe Weather Awareness Week, a time to remind state residents of the need to be prepared for possible severe weather. Last year in Wisconsin there were 23 tornado touchdowns, including a powerful twister in mid-May that followed an 83-mile path across the northern Wisconsin counties of Polk, Barron, Rusk, and Price, killing one person and causing widespread damage. Another storm on June 14th spawned 10 tornadoes across Waushara, Outagamie, Brown, Winnebago, and Shawano Counties. A statewide tornado drill is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, beginning with mock tornado watch at 1:00, followed by a mock tornado warning at 1:45. A similar warning will be issued at 6:45 Thursday evening.
