Felony charges are expected against a Shawano County jail inmate who allegedly attacked a corrections officer this week. The sheriff’s department says two officers were conducting a cell inspection Monday when an inmate got out of his cell and lunged at one of the officers, hitting him multiple times. The second officer was able to help the first officer finally subdue the inmate, place him in handcuffs, and get him moved to a more restrictive area of the jail. The officer who was struck was taken to ThedaCare– Shawano Hospital for treatment. The incident remains under investigation.
