Powerful thunderstorms rolled through northeast Wisconsin Wednesday afternoon, leaving behind a path of downed trees and powerlines, with thousands of residents without power this (Thursday) morning. In the Waupaca area numerous trees are down, including one on a house west of the city, and about 28-hundred Wisconsin Public Service customers don’t have power this morning. Around Shawano, where an unconfirmed tornado will be investigated today, around 6000 are without power, and about 4000 in the Green Bay area. As many as 4 unconfirmed tornadoes will be investigated by the National Weather Service. The strong winds did take the roof off a barn in the Weyauwega area. And a reminder from Waupaca County Emergency Management…. if you come across a downed power line, stay at least 25 feet away, and call authorities immediately.
