The Outagamie County Board is looking for ways to make Interstate Highway 41 safer for motorists, and to that end, the board yesterday passed a resolution, asking the Department of Transportation to conduct an engineering and traffic investigation. Originally, the board was seeking a reduction in the I-41 speed limit, from 70 to 55 miles per hour, but they backed away from that in seeking the D-O-T’s help. Supervisors want the experts to study I-41 traffic from “BB” in Grand Chute to the County Highway “J” exit near Kaukauna. That’s a stretch of highway that sees hundreds of accidents each year. Late in the summer, Governor Walker called for an expansion study of the interstate between Appleton and DePere.
