A motion by a Waupaca School Board member to approve two teacher non-renewals died due to the lack of a 2nd last night. District Administrator Greg Nyen had sent the two high school teachers– one a social studies instructor that teaches advanced placement courses, the other a foreign language teacher– the notices of non-renewal last week, and it was on the board’s consent agenda last night. The item was pulled from the consent agenda, and then died for lack of a 2nd when moved for approval. The non-renewal items may be brought back in front of the board at a future meeting. The board did approve the hiring of a new high school principal. Michael Werbowsky will take over the position currently held by Mark Flaten, who took another administrative job in the district. Werbowsky has been in education for 26 years, the last two as principal at Mount Horeb High School. He also spent 8 years as principal in Kaukauna, and 5 years in Rhinelander.
