ThedaCare Hospitals in northeast Wisconsin are joining other health facilities around the state in limiting visitation in an effort to slow down the spread of the flu. Wednesday TheadCare announced that children under the age of 12 will temporarily not be allowed to visit patients at hospitals in Waupaca, Berlin, Appleton, Neenah, New London, Shawano, and Wild Rose. The restriction does not apply to outpatient or clinic services. In addition, all hospital visitors will be strongly encouraged to wear masks and wash their hands when entering the facilities. The Center for Disease Control says as of last Friday, infection rates for this flu season were still rising, and were higher than those in any year since 2009, when the swine flu was pandemic.
