A Weyauwega man is one of just 30 people in the world to become certified as a Medical Transportation Safety Professional. Jeff Grimm, a ThedaStar nurse for ThedaCard, attended the Association of Air Medical Services’ Safety Management Training Academy one-week sessions in 2014 and ’15 before taking the exam earlier this year. The program’s goal is to create an internationally recognized standard that includes all aspects of safety management and risk mitigation in medical transportation. Grimm is also a certified critical care registered nurse and a certified flight registered nurse, along with being a paramedic. He says improvements that he plans to make to ThedaStar’s Safety Management System will help make the agency more proactive than reactive when it comes to their safety program.
