Four area residents have been criminally charged for their alleged roles in a forgery scheme. 28 year old Dustin L. Bohringer and 26 year old Stephanie A. Pingel, both of Waupaca, 24 year old Ronald K. Knapstein of Scandinavia, and 32 year old Nicole L. Wetzel all face felony forgery counts, for allegedly cashing bogus checks in November in the Towns of Waupaca and Helvetia. The complaint says a Clintonville woman, 49 year old Lorrenda Fritz, allegedly wrote out the checks on closed accounts, then had the four cash them, to receive a percentage of the money. Fritz was charged with five felony forgery counts earlier this month. Bohringer and Knapstein both make their initial appearances in court next Tuesday, while Wetzel and Pingel are due in court January 9th.
