A former Weyauwega man is facing child sex crimes in Waupaca County Circuit Court. 38 year old David R. Thurber, a current inmate at the Oshkosh Correctional Facility, is charged with using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, along with possession of child pornography. The criminal complaint alleges Thurber last fall used his cell phone to share inappropriate photos of children, and to participate in sexually explicit chats with children who identified themselves as being between 12 and 14 years old. Thurber in 2016 was convicted of 4th degree sexual assault, and placed on probation. That probation has since been revoked, with Thurber serving a prison term. A 5000 dollar cash bond was ordered in the new case, with Thurber facing up to 65 years behind bars if convicted. He is due back in court May 22nd.
