Property tax payers in the Tomorrow River School District will see a reduction in the school’s tax rate this year. The school board in Amherst gave approval to the 2018-2019 district budget Monday night, a budget that calls for a tax rate of 9 dollars and 38 cents per thousand dollars valuation, a drop of 20 cents per thousand, or a 20 dollar savings on a 100-thousand dollar home. The district’s total tax levy this year will be 4.18 million dollars, compared to 4.09 million last year, an increase in the levy of 2.15 percent. The district did see a 4.4 percent increase in equalized property values, and the district’s revenue from state aid is up about 20-thousand dollars from a year ago.
