Traffic-related deaths in August were down in Wisconsin, compared to August of last year. Numbers released by the State Department of Transportation show 52 people were killed in hiway crashes last month, compared to 57 a year ago. That ties this past August with August of 2009 as the safest since World War Two. Overall this year, 396 people have lost their lives in traffic accidents. That’s 4 more than at this same time a year ago. This year’s deaths include 58 motorcyclists and 42 pedestrians. And for last weekend’s Labor Day Holiday, 3 people were killed on the roadways, compared to 6 a year ago.
