Two area men are facing felony drunk driving charges in Waupaca County Circuit Court. 34 year old Adam A. Garvey of Iola is charged with 4th offense OWI following a single car crash in the Town of Helvetia this past Friday. The criminal complaint says deputies responded to the crash off Moen Road, where the car had hit a boulder and several trees. With three prior drunk driving convictions, the blood-alcohol concentration limit for Garvey is .02 percent. The complaint alleges he was operating with a BAC above that level. If convicted he could face up to 6 years in prison. Garvey was ordered held on a 500 dollar cash bond.
Meanwhile, 35 year old Michael A. Haas of Amherst makes his initial court appearance in Waupaca County December 9th on a 4th offense drunk driving. The criminal complaint alleges Haas was driving with a blood-alcohol concentration of .188 percent when he ran his car into concrete barriers at a downtown Waupaca convenience store in mid-October. Haas has three prior drunk driving convictions, dating back to 2006. He also faces up to 6 years behind bars if convicted.
