Two Waupaca area residents have been charged in connection to an injury suffered by a county sheriff’s officer. 24 year old Michael D. Call is being held in jail on a 5000 dollar cash bond after being charged with battery to a law enforcement officer, substantial battery, attempted escape, and obstruction. 17 year old StarrAnn G. Stocks is charged with attempted escape, battery to a law enforcement office as a party to a crime, and resisting. The complaint says officers went to a Town of Dayton residence Monday to pick up Stocks for a court appearance. As an officer escorted her to the vehicle, Call allegedly punched the officer in the back of the head, sending the officer to the ground were he momentarily lost consciousness. The second officer used his taser to subdue Call. The complaint says the injured officer suffered a concussion. Call faces up to 9 and a half years in prison if convicted, while Stocks could face up to 6 years behind bars. Both are due back in court next Tuesday.
