Two area men are facing felony drunk driving charges in separate cases in Waupaca County Circuit Court. 51 year old Steven J. Hudy of New London has been charged with his 5th operating while intoxicated, after being found asleep in his truck with the engine running, in gear, stuck in the snow, in Iola on Sunday. The criminal complaint alleges his blood-alcohol level was .199 percent. If convicted, Hudy could face up to 10 years behind bars. He is being held on a 2000 dollar cash bond, and is due back in court May 1st.
Meanwhile, 31 year old Daniel L. Bednar of Oshkosh was pulled over in Manawa early Saturday morning, allegedly operating with a blood-alcohol level of .05 percent. Bednar’s legal limit is .02 percent, due to 3 prior drunk driving convictions, dating back to 2007. If convicted, he could face up to 6 years in prison. Bednar was released on 2000 dollar signature bond, with adherence to the Soberlink monitoring program. He us due back in court May 8th.
