Two area residents are facing drug charges in separate cases in Waupaca County Court. 39 year old Jeanna M. Kammerdiener of Rosholt faces felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and bail jumping, along with two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance. Kammerdiener was arrested in Iola Friday night on a Shawano County warrant. During a search, the complaint alleges officers found 3.7 grams of meth in her purse, plus pills for which she had no prescription. The bail jumping count stems from bond conditions on a possession of meth charge from Shawano County from January of 2018. If convicted on the latest charges, she could face up to 9 and a half years in prison. Kammerdiener was released on a 2000 dollar signature bond, and is due back in court August 27th.
Meanwhile, 28 year old Richard R. Smits, Jr., is charged with possession of meth. The criminal complaint says drug agents followed Smits in June after allegedly picking up the drug at a New London hotel. They made a traffic stop on him on Highway 54 in the Town of Mukwa. Smits faces up to 3 and a half years in prison if convicted. His initial court appearance is on the 27th.
