Two snowmobile crashes in Wisconsin over the weekend were deadly. The first happened in Iron County, in for northern Wisconsin, Friday afternoon. Authorities say a 43 year old woman from Hartland was riding on a road in the Town of Carey, south of IronWood, Michigan, when she missed a curve and ran into a semi. The woman was taken to an area hospital where she died. The truck driver was not hurt, and officials say he had no fault in the crash.
The other fatal crash occurred on Lake Winnebago Saturday afternoon. According to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, a rider wither hit a snowbank or a crack in the ice. The operator was thrown from the machine, which then landed on top of him. Authorities say speed and alcohol were possible factors in the crash. Names have not been released from either crash.
