Waupaca’s City Administrator Henry Veleker was officially placed on paid administrative leave this morning by city Mayor Brian Smith. The placement onto administrative leaves comes prior to a special closed session meeting of the city council tonight. Veleker was cited for disorderly conduct by Waupaca police late last Saturday night, June 15th. Police say they were called to Weasel’s Bar and Restaurant in downtown Waupaca where Veleker was allegedly involved in a disturbance both inside and outside the bar. Police found him walking on Main Street a short time later and issued the citation. Two years ago Veleker was arrested in the city for drunk driving, first offense, and was placed on two weeks unpaid administrative leave by the council. Sources say an agreement between the Mayor and Veleker has been reached, with the council potentially acting on that agreement tonight.
