Waupaca County voters will have a choice for circuit court judge in the spring election. Two local attorneys have thrown their hats in the ring for the job currently held by long-time Judge Phillip Kirk, who is retiring, and not seeking re-election. Troy Nielsen of Scandinavia and Eric Hendrickson of Waupaca are seeking the judgeship. Nielson is a public defender out of the Stevens Point state public defender’s office. He earned his law degree from Hamline Law School in 2008. Hendrickson specializes in family law. He earned his law degree from UW-Madison in 1987. Judge Kirk will be retiring after 36 years on the bench, having been first elected in 1981.
