If all goes as scheduled, Waupaca football and soccer teams will be playing on a new field this fall. The school board last night approved a 2.3 million dollar contract with Rettler Corporation of Stevens Point to develop the new synthetic turf field at the high school. The project includes new bleachers and concession areas, plus development at the youth soccer fields along King Road. The timline calls for the bid packets to be out in 2 weeks, with construction beginning June 15th, and a completion date of August 24th. In conjunction with the project, the board approved a 1 million dollar borrow through the State Trust Fund Loan Program. The loan is at 3 percent, with a payback time of 5 years. Other money to pay for the athletic complex will come from the sale of the administration building on School Street, and the sale of the Haberkorn Field property.
