City of Waupaca property taxpayers will see a reduction in their tax bill in December. The common council last night approved the 2017 city budget, which holds the tax levy at 3.471 million dollars, the same as last year. That, along with a 3-million dollar increase in the city’s assessed value, and decreases in school district and county tax rates, means city residents will see a total decrease of about a dollar and 28-cents per thousand dollars valuation. That equates to a reduction of about 128-dollars on a 100-thousand dollar home. The budget includes a 1 and a half percent wage increase for all employees, a slight increase in the Wisconsin Retirement contribution rates, and no increase in the sewer utility rate. The budget passed unanimously.
