The city of Waupaca is looking for bow hunters. The city council last night gave approval to a managed bow hunt this spring, to be held on three city properties: the city airport, recycling center and adjoining cemetery parcel, and the Washington Street sewer lift station property. The city will also ask the Waupaca Country Club for permission to hunt that property. City administrator Henry Veleker says the city received 20 deer tags for a managed hunt they hoped would be held last fall. That hunt never materialized, but Veleker says the city got a DNR extension for the tags, through the end of April. Any licensed archery hunter may participate…. the 20 tags will be issued using a lottery system managed by the city. Hunters must attend a safety session, and purchase the 10 dollar bow discharge permit from the city police department.
