Waupaca Online, the city’s internet service provider, has received a state broadband expansion grant, to help expand internet service into rural areas of Waupaca County. Waupaca Online will receive $32,800 dollars from the state, helping to cover about 45 percent of the project costs. Waupaca Online will use money from it’s reserve fund, and user set-up fees, to cover the remaining project costs. City I-T Director Josh Werner says the plan is to expand broadband into areas ranging from Marion to Fremont, with the focus on central and eastern Waupaca County. The project will begin this fall, with completion scheduled for the summer of 2019.
