Beginning next Thursday ATV’s and UTV’s can be legally operated on most city of Waupaca streets. The city council last night, on a 7-2 vote, approved an ordinance allowing the use of those recreational vehicles on a round-the-clock basis. A few downtown streets will be off-limits, including parts of Main, Union, West Fulton, and Jefferson Streets. Originally the ordinance would have allowed ATV and UTV useage only during daylight hours, but that time restriction was eliminated after discussions with other communities who allow the vehicles on a 24-hour basis.
The council also approved an ordinance banning smoking, including e-cigarettes, in all city parks and on city trails. The ban includes smoking in a vehicle that is located within a city park. The vote to approve the smoking ban was unanimous.
