A Burlington, Wisconsin, man is free on a 2000 dollar signature bond following multiple charges in Waupaca County Circuit Court. 32 year old Jason R. Bennett faces a felony count of felon in possession of a firearm, along with misdemeanor counts of retail theft, carrying a concealed weapon, and obstructing police. The criminal complaint alleges Bennett was caught at Waupaca’s Fleet Farm trying to steal 670 dollars worth of tools and clothing last Friday, while another man with him tried to walk out with over 800 dollars in merchandise. That man has not yet been charged. Upon searching Bennett’s vehicle, the complaint alleges officers found two loaded handguns. Bennett has previous felony convictions for burglary in Oneida County in 2004, and delivery of heroin in Washington County in 2009. If convicted on the new charges, he could face up to 10 years in prison. Bennett is due back in court November 13th.
