A Weyauwega man is facing multiple charges in Waupaca County Court for allegedly choking a jail officer. 21 year old DeAngelo L. Fonder, a current inmate in the jail, faces felony counts of battery by prisoner, strangulation and suffocation, assault by a prisoner being restrained, and expelling bodily fluids at an officer. The criminal complaint alleges Fonder grabbed the throat of an officer as he was being moved to a different area of the jail, and continued to choke the officer as other officers took him to the ground. He allegedly also scratched the officer’s head and broke his glasses before being tased. After being handcuffed, he allegedly made multiple death threats against the offcers, and is alleged to have spit on one of them, before having a spit-hood placed over his head. If convicted, Fonder faces up to 25 years in prison. He was ordered held on a 10 thousand dollar cash bond, and is due back in court July 11th.
