Authorities in Winnebago County are investigating several apparent shooting incidents near Winneconne. The latest reported incident involved a Winneconne family returning home from the state fair earlier this month. The windshield of the family’s car suffered significant damage after being hit by what family members believe was a shotgun blast about a mile east of Winneconne on State Highway 116. Thirteen holes were found in the windshield. No one inside the vehicle was hurt. Authorities say they received similar reports from other motorists on that same day, August 3rd, in the same area of Highway 116, but they have found no direct evidence of shots being fired. The sheriff’s office says they have assigned a detective to the case, and are asking the public for help.
