Work is progressing on the reconstruction of the Waupaca City Square. This past week all of the concrete sidewalk for Phase 1 of the project was installed, and preparations were made for the new asphalt on the streets. That includes the parking lot for city hall and the library. That parking lot should be open for parking by later next week. Phase 2 of the project will soon follow, with the closing of Union Street, from Main to Jefferson. City officials say construction crews will try to maintain the concrete sidewalk along Union Street businesses for as long as possible. Once complete, the new parking alignment around city hall will increase parking in the downtown area by about 30 stalls.
