It may not feel like it today, but spring is here, and with that comes road construction season. Next week is National Work Zone Awareness Week, a time set aside to draw attention to the safety needs of road construction workers, and motorists driving through construction zones. There were 9 fatalities and 11-hundred injuries just in Wisconsin alone last year in work zone crashes. So state traffic officials want motorists to remember that those working on the roads are somebody’s spouse, family member, and friend, and they deserve to go home safe every night. Another reminder for motorists….. a law passed in Wisconsin last year makes it illegal to talk on a handheld mobile device while driving in a Wisconsin road work zone. A first offense results in a 40 dollar fine, with fines going to 100 dollars for subsequent offenses.
